New Admissions Testing Guidelines  Beginning with Class of 2022

University of California (UC)
has suspended the standardized test requirement (ACT/SAT) for all California high school seniors applying for Fall 2022.  SAT and ACT scores will not be considered in the admissions process.
Current Seniors have the option of submitting ACT/SAT scores, but will not be penalized in the admissions review process for not submitting ACT/SAT scores.
For students who choose to complete the test(s) and submit scores, UC Campuses can use test scores to determine student course placement (what level of college Math and English is appropriate for the student)
UC Announces Changes to ACT and SAT Requirement

California State University (CSU) will temporarily suspend the use of ACT/SAT examinations in determining admission eligibility for all CSU campuses for the 2021-2022 academic year.

SAT and ACT 2021-2022               Sheldon School Code: 052792

A component of an admission application is a college admission test score. Some colleges and universities will not process an application without one. The two national tests are the SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) and the ACT (American College Test) .  Many four-year colleges and universities in the nation require test scores and accept either SAT Reasoning Test or ACT scores equally. It is the student's responsibility when preparing to apply to colleges, to research which campuses require SAT or ACT as part of their admissions application. Check college and university websites.  Because research indicates that many students perform quite differently on the SAT and the ACT, it may benefit students to take both tests since colleges typically use the higher of the two scores for admission, scholarship, and athletic eligibility. It is recommended that students take the SAT and/or ACT in the spring of their Junior Year, and again in the fall of their Senior year.

It may be required and used by college admissions officers as a supplement to the secondary school record.
