The Engineering and Architecture pathway is a small, independent Career Technical Education (CTE) sequence at Sheldon High School.  Our goal is to create a fun learning environment where students can develop technical skills and friendships they will value in high school and beyond.  Some of the transferable technical skills learned by taking the Engineering and Architecture pathway include.

  • Drawings and Computer Aided Design (CAD)
  • Mechanics, Electrical Circuits, and Electronics
  • Robotics and Automation
  • The Design Process and Project Management

In addition to our courses, we sponsor several clubs and activities for students to meet new people and gain a better understanding about Engineering as a career.

  • VEX Robotics Competition Team 95829
  • The Engineering Club
  • SMUD Solar Powered Car Race
  • Industry Field Trips and Guest Speakers

Course Sequence

The Engineering and Architecture sequence is a 3 course sequence that begins in the 10th grade.  All courses align with the Project Lead the Way system.  The required sequence is kept at three classes to allow Engineering students to explore a wide range of other electives, or Advanced Placement courses at Sheldon.

  • Introduction to Engineering Design (12349)
  • Computer Integrated Manufacturing (12356)
  • Engineering Design and Development - Honors  (12363)

In addition to the 3 course sequence listed above, there is an elective that can be taken at any time in your career at Sheldon.

Engineering Elective - Drafting 1 (12101) Grades 9-12

As every student has unique needs, please feel free to contact the Engineering Pathway with any questions or to set up a planning meeting for you.
